Womens Common Path Network

Our group brings women together from Protestant and Catholic backgrounds from Belfast and Newtownabbey.

There is a mixture of young and older women and some of them live in interface communities.
One common theme is that all the women have been affected directly or indirectly by the conflict in Ireland.
These women have faced division and sectarianism and most have lived their lives in segregated working class communities that have suffered high levels of socioeconomic deprivation.

The aims of our network is to bring women from segregated communities together through educational programmes around reconciliation, history and culture & identity.

This allows the women to integrate and mix with women from various religious and cultural backgrounds as well as allowing them to become more informed.

Our network wants to challenge the women on stereotypes about the other community through a series of debates and workshops.

We want them to identify common social issues that all our communities face.
