Seaview Primary School opened in 1934.  There has been a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for many years with the PTA constitution last revised in 1997.

There has traditionally been a particularly strong PTA of approximately 10 committee members who have shown great commitment and loyalty to the school both in terms of funds raised and social activities organised.

The PTA committee meet in the school on the first Wednesday of every month, during the academic year, to organise events.  An AGM is held at the beginning of the school year when office bearers are elected and events timetable agreed.   The work of the PTA is invaluable in helping to support the resources and work of the school.

However, over the past number of years, there has been a noticeable decline in community relationships within our own school and with lost opportunities to develop relationships with our own local community.

Many first time parents to the school and to the area seem to be more isolated and perhaps find it more difficult to integrate with the school community than in the past.  Some families, including those from the ethnic minority, also seem to have greater difficulty in mixing with the other parents in their child’s class.

This year has seen a change in membership of the PTA with a number of new committee members on board. This is a good opportunity for a fresh look at the organisation and the direction to be taken.

It is our aim to strengthen the community spirit and relationships that exist in the school between parents and between parents and staff.   That people feel the support and comfort of belonging, sharing and learning from each other all in the best interest of our children.

The main purpose of the group is to support the children of the school through community and relationship building, with all stakeholders, and provide funds for resources for the school.
