Killybegs Women's Group are based in Co Donegal. They have been established for 12 years and have 8 committee members. They currently have no paid members of staff.
Typical activities of this group include:
- provided access to training including computer classes, personal development, health and well being, parenting skills, arts and crafts etc
- established a number of social activities to encourage participation from the community and decrease isolation within this rural area.
The group established itself initially to support the needs of local women left extremely isolated for long periods when their partners were on the fishing boats. In latter years as fishing has declined, unemployment has risen and other social needs have arisen.
