We are a voluntary cross–border and cross–community group founded approximately 5 years ago and based in the village of Garrison.
Garrison is the most westerly village in Northern Ireland and geographically its located 105 miles from Belfast and 120 miles from Dublin.
Our area is coming out of a 30 year period of isolation as the village was the only area in Northern Ireland to be cut off from its natural hinterland in the Republic of Ireland due to the troubles. During this time both hotels ceased trading.
There are high levels of deprivation and unemployment. Garrison is placed towards the bottom of the Noble Indices in terms of services available. Employment opportunities are limited and there is no industry in the village.
Our community sporting and social club seeks to benefit the inhabitants of the village and its surrounding catchment area without distinction of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic identity, disability, political or religious opinion.
We also aim to promote social inclusion by means of recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants.
We have twelve voluntary committee members who are energetic, enthusiastic and generous with their time.
