Where We Are Based

Main Street, Dunfanaghy, Co. Donegal

Dunfanaghy (DĂșn Fionnachaidh, fort of the fair-haired warrior)  is a small village, formerly a fishing port and commercial centre and  is located on Donegal's North West coast, specifically the west side of Sheephaven Bay.

The Family Resource Centre within Dunfanaghy is located in a terraced house on the main street of Dunfanaghy.

Our Main Purpose

Through consultation with local groups, the objective of the Family Resource Centre is the continued support and strengthening of the capacity of local groups at grass root level who are aiming to address the variety of needs of both the area and particular social groupings within the community.

Our organisation has implemented a number of training initiatives, educational activities, open - day events for individuals, including members of local community groups.

Participants have included those within the Carers Support Group, Active Age Group, Care of the Aged, Women’s Group, Youth Group, parents, and members of the community who are lone parents, children, men and people with disabilities.
Training courses have included, Basic, Intermediate and ECDL Computer, Children’s

Computer Classes, Art, Creative Writing, Child Care, Child Protection, Sign Language, Digital Photography, Advanced Digital Photography, Occupational First Aid Skills, Yoga, Training for Transformation workshops with funding provided from VEC & Peace 11.

Over the years our organisation has undertaken a number of cross community and cross border initiatives under the Peace 11 Programme and we continue to engage with them on a number of projects under the Donegal Peace & Reconciliation Partnership Small Grants Programme.
