Drumavaddy Social and Development Associaton

Drumavaddy Social & Development Association  is a community based group of 18 voluntary members  set up to promote the development of our community and surrounding areas. Drumavaddy is a rural area based approx 5 miles from Cavan Town.

 Our aim is to support and encourage Social, Educational and cultural development in the area as we do not have any other group addressing these issues. Our group was set up in 2007 following appeals from the community to keep  in existence a School Reunion Organising group who had organised a very successful Reunion Weekend in the Community. Since then we have gone from strenght to strenght and are filling a void which was in our community for many years. We are very fortunate that we have a large community centre available to us that we can use for our meetings and activities.  Our activities to date include : 

• Community Social Get together Evenings with Music, Food and Dancing especially at Christmas, New Year and
• St. Patricks Weekend.
• Annual Four Day Community Festival - Each August Bank Holiday Weekend.
• Organisation and Provision of Computer Classes, First Aid Classes, Defibilator Training including providing a Defibilator for Community Use, Keep Fit Classes
• Publishing a Community Calendar Each Year.
• Erection of Townland Stones in Each Townland.
• Erection of Information Signs on Historical Sites in the Area.
• Provision of Amplification System for Community Use Indoors and Outdoors.
• Working alongside other Groups in Our Community and sourcing financial Assistance towards Community Activities both educational and Social.
• Seting up and supporting Badminton and Bowling Clubs.
