Bailieborough Development Association, is a community group set up in 1998, by a group of individuals from all traditions in the community, who were concerned with the opportunities for the wider community. The mission statement for the group is “To sustainably improve the economic, social and cultural well being of the Bailieborough area, by providing workspace and community services in an all inclusive manner.”
We have worked with various funding agencies to deliver a variety of projects that benefit the entire community. Some of our projects include:
Bailieborough Community Training, a company set up to provide cost effective computer training for the entire community. This project employs 4 full time and 2 part-time staff and is supported by Pobal.
Bailieborough Out of School Service, a service that operates in association with the local National Schools, we provide collection and childcare services. Children are supervised for homework and have constructive play. We work alongside the Office for Minister for youth and childrens affairs, the county Childcare committee, Fàs and Pobal. This service employs 5 staff.
Bailieborough Enterprise Centre & Bailieborough Business Centre. We provide affordable workspace for local business, thus keeping business in Bailieborough and not forcing people to leave the town. This service employs 3 people.
In addition to this we work alongside Cavan County Council on upkeep of certain areas, and regularly apply for grants under the town renewal schemes. We also facilitate other community groups with meeting room space for various meeting and training sessions.
The Board of Bailieborough Development Association are made up of local men and women from all cultures and traditions in the community.
The Board is completely voluntary and BDA is a registered Charity. All business activities and assets belong to the community and no single individual benefits from BDA activities.
