Teach Oscail FRC Project Ltd

The Teach Oscail FRC Project was established in 2000, following almost 2 years pre-developmental training.

Main role: 
CLP Co-ordinator

I took up post as CLP Co-ordinator in January 2011. I'm the main contact for CLP groups and facilitators on day-to-day programme issues. Most of my experience has been gained in training and management roles in the voluntary & community sector in NI, but I have recently returned from Brussels where I managed the network development function for a well-known European network of environmental groups.

I am a Senior Associate with the Interaction Institute for Social Change.

I specialise in training and facilitation around the areas of leadership and collaboration.

My name is Bernard Black, I work with community and voluntary (and occasionally private and public sector) organisations on strategic planning and implementation.

I have specific skills in project management, training, ICT, governance and funding.

I am a former post-primary head of science, advisory teacher with NEELB and telecommunications consultant,

I also ran the Awards for All grants scheme for 4 years of my 8 years in Lottery.

I am a community development practitioner with experience in:

Previously I worked for 10 years in Liverpool in youth work, economic development and immigration advice.

On moving to NI in 1996, I worked as co-ordinator for 2 years as part of the 1st Peace and Reconciliation Programme.

Following that I worked for 9 years as networking support officer and learning and development co-ordinator with a regional rural voluntary organisation.

My areas of specialism include; rural community development, capacity building, training and workforce development, reflective practice and action learning sets facilitation.
