Teaching old dogs new tricks

Kevin McCaughan's picture

Given the age of the participants and the historical association with the sea the title seems approriate for Sailortown.

If i'm being frank and honest while enthusiasm and humour were never going to be a barrier to this group - a fear of technology, anxiety about assessed learning and  University participation were always likely to be sizeable barriers.

In reality the delivery as a group has been astonishing.

In the last month alone the group has:

* Established a newly constituted Tenants Assoc

* Established a mothers and toddlers group

* Recruited a graduate placement to help bridge the gap between the end of CLP and the implementation of an identified action plan

* Recruited two ladies who are a dab hand on the old grant tracker.

All of these new activities have seen the group attract 20+ new members to various committee and project activities.

Superb! -Muchas gracias Sailortown - i'm just delighted to have been involved.
