Sailortown Regeneration is celebrating their recent Awards for All funding success which has netted them approximately £10,000 for their 'Then, Now & To' project.
Sailortown Regeneration’s choice to undertake Fundraising Action Learning Sessions (ALSs) in partnership with Rainbow Parenting Group was a winning combination. The organisations agreed to focus their joint ALSs on best practice in Fundraising and a practical session on developing a successful Funding Application. The process involved both organisations being facilitated through a process of ideas generation and a practical session on drafting the funding application to ensure that the project was clearly outlined, provided evidence on its need, showed clearly how it met the funder’s objectives and that it was realistically budgeted. Sailortown Regeneration and Rainbow Parenting Group then each presented their case for funding …..this enabled challenge, the sharing of ideas and experience and ultimately a successful bid for funding. The 'Then, Now & To' project is specifically about enabling increased community engagement through a project which creates a photographic book on the changing history of Sailortown over the last 100 years to the present day and presents the vision for Sailortown 2020. It has two distinct aims, firstly to preserve the cultural heritage of the area through resident’s stories and photographs. Secondly it will act as a catalyst for the generation of new families who have moved into the area to become more integrated and involved in community activity and be part of the 2020 vision for the area.
