Building standards in Community DevelopmentHello AllIf you are involved in a community development group or project you may be interested in the following new resources to support community development practice. A revised set of Standards for Community Development has recently been published and launched in Northern Ireland and these can be downloaded from: http://www.fcdl.org.uk/NOS_Consultation/Documents/NOS_CD_Eng_v2finalartworkedversion.pdfThe Standards set out the purpose of community development, the underpinning values and detail 7 Key Areas that outline the skills and knowledge needed for effective community development practice. National Occupational Standards can be used to help many areas of practice such as project planning, staff/volunteer recruitment, management and supervision practice, identifying and planning training and development needs, to name a few areas.The full document is quite big (95) pages, so by way of an introduction 2 other resources have been developed by the Federation for Community Development Learning in partnership with other CD organisations;1.
