Good intentions are not enough - good governance is essential!

After almost a year in operation, the Charity Commision for Northrern Ireland have recently received their hundredth complaint and have just published a report called One Hundred Lessons to be Learned.

The report identifies four key themes of the first 100 complaints: poor governance, a lack of transparency, poor financial control and the damage caused by disputes, with governance and transparency issues dominating. It  shows yet again that good intentions are not enough! Boards and management committees must understand their governance responsibilities and be able to demonstrate that they have followed best practice.
