Year 2 group, Centre for Health and Well Being celebrated the close of a busy year by launching a health report outlining the need for continued investment in health in the Upper Springfield area in December 2011. Pete Maguire, the group’s chairman told attendees that the board had handled changing situations in the centre with increasing confidence and professionalism and were rightly proud of their capacity to do so. “We have been helped in this regard by NICVA’s Community Leadership programme and extensive financial, legal and human resource training from bodies such as CO3, ACE Business Solutions and the Labour Relations Agency” he told guests. Treasurer, Lorraine Mills, added “With the CLP programme we determined our natural team roles which meant officer posts within the board changed; we looked at our motivation for volunteering and re-affirmed longer term commitments to the centre; we looked at our vision, mission and aims and devised a strategic business plan for 2011 – 2014.”
“We’ve assessed business models, devised the best plan for us and looked at strategic board recruitment for the first time in our history. It was an exciting time, tough but I think in the end we’ve come out stronger and more aware of our obligation to the public purse and our community to provide a caring, professional service where we provide consistently high standards of care” agreed Pete. 2012 will continue to be a busy year for the centre as the board move forward in seeking to secure more funding in a time of ever dwindling resources. Kate Laverty, Centre Manager said “the teamwork skills, networking talents and fundraising abilities learned on the CLP programme will invariably prove our most useful tools in the trying times to come”. Congratulations to Pete, Lorraine and Kate who were also officially presented with certificates for their ILM Level 3 In Leadership awards on the day. Congratulations too to the whole team , including their CLP colleagues Michael and Bernie, on all their achievements in 2011 and we expect to see them grow from strength to strength in 2012!
