Adding to the Blog and Sending an Email (or not)

I had a helpful meeting with Fergal today to make sure that I was using the blog tool correctly and also to learn how to upload new resources and share them with people.

I learned and you may be interested in this also, that if you "Create Blog" the blog entry is open to everyone and so be careful what you say!  Moreso, is visible but not emailed out to everyone.

However, if you highlight one or more Groups on the list provided, everyone in those groups gets an email to let them know there is a new blog.

So?  If you do not want an email to go out about the new entry, do not highlight any groups.  If you do want people notified, highlight the group or groups you want notified. If you do not want others to see a message, use email and not the blog.

PS  If you want a blog visible to a group, your group only, use "Forum Topic" rather than create a blog and then only the group will see the entry.
